COO takes on Bath Ultra Challenge for MND charity
Redcliffe Homes’ COO takes on Bath Ultra Challenge for MND charity
Last weekend (28th March 2026), we were incredibly proud to see our chief operating officer, Jon Burcombe, complete the Bath Ultra Challenge, walking an impressive 29km (18 miles) to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Jon completed the challenge alongside friends as part of a team named ‘The Blue Striders’, all walking in memory of their close friend, John Beaverstock, who sadly passed away in October 2024 after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Jon and his friends completed the course in an impressive six hours and have so far raised just over £3,000, plus Gift Aid, in support of MND.
Walking in memory of a great friend
The challenge held special significance for Jon and his team. Their friend, known as ‘Beaver’, was remembered not only for his character and friendship but also for his passion as a dedicated Chelsea supporter, inspiring the team’s name.
Supporting vital research into MND
Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive condition that affects the brain and nerves, with a profound impact on those diagnosed and their families. Funds raised through challenges like this help the MND Association continue its work supporting people living with the disease and investing in research to find a cure.
Jon and The Blue Striders set out to raise both awareness and vital funds, contributing to ongoing efforts to improve treatment and, ultimately, find a breakthrough.
A team effort beyond the workplace
At Redcliffe Homes, community and people are at the heart of everything we do, and Jon’s commitment to this challenge reflects that ethos beyond the workplace.
Taking on a 29km walk is no small feat, but doing so in support of such a cause demonstrates the strength of teamwork, friendship and determination.
