There is a lot to think about when you’re choosing a new home, and there’s no doubt that the small details, location, layout, and energy ratings matter. But on top of all of that, the most important reason is also the simplest: it just feels like home.

That’s exactly how it felt for Eila and Derek, who recently relocated to a Redcliffe home in the Wiltshire countryside. Having bought new build homes before, they knew what to expect, or thought they did. This time, something was different.

We caught up with them to find out what made the move so special and why choosing a new build home with Redcliffe turned out to be their best decision yet.

A personal decision

Eila and Derek first came across Redcliffe Homes after their daughter bought her own property at Rowden Park in Chippenham. Intrigued by the quality and impressed by the welcome, they returned for a viewing and ended up reserving their own dream home: a four-bedroom Wimborne Special with a double garage and scenic views.

“Plot 57 was up on a hill,” said Eila. “It felt like something out of a holiday brochure.”

They reserved in December 2023, and by April, they were moving in. A smooth, stress-free process made even better by the hands-on service and care from the Redcliffe team.

Not just another new build home

Having lived in several new build homes before, they were clear, this one was different.

“This is the best new build home I’ve had. You can tell Redcliffe uses first-class companies, not just the cheapest. The plumber, the electrician, nothing was too much trouble.”

It wasn’t just about the quality, though. For Eila and Derek, it was the thought behind every detail: oak internal doors, chrome fittings, granite worktops, even the towel rails felt a cut above.

“You get so many extras that just aren’t included with the big national builders,” they added. “Redcliffe might be smaller, but that’s the difference; you can tell they care about their reputation.”

Built for now, and for the future

Choosing a new build home gave them something they hadn’t had in previous homes: the chance to enjoy it from day one.

“The house was spotless when we moved in. Any snags were sorted straight away, just a phone call or email, and it was done.”

With zero renovations to worry about, the couple could focus on enjoying their new space. Their favourite feature? The private balcony above the garage.

“You get amazing views. It’s perfect for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening sunshine.”

They also loved the layout, especially the second en suite, ideal for hosting family and friends, and, of course Charlie, their beloved King Charles spaniel.

A place to settle

For Eila and Derek, this move wasn’t just about buying a house. It was about choosing a lifestyle that works for them. From easy access to the M4 and London-bound trains, to being closer to their daughter, their new home fits perfectly into their lives.

And when asked if they’d recommend Redcliffe? They already have.

“Definitely. After we moved in, I was here for six months and showed the house to a couple from Cardiff who were on the development looking around when the show home was closed. They ended up buying it!”
